The goal of this thesis was confirmation of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction presence in the Au/Co/NiO system, where the Co layer is ferromagnet with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy, and the NiO layer is antiferromagnet. In the previous work performed in the Institute of Molecular Physics Polish Academy of Sciences it was demonstrated, that in the Au/Co/NiO system domain walls of the Néel type with the clockwise chirality was found and it was connected with the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction. In this thesis, in order to confirm this a modified method presented in [1]. was used. This method bases on analysis of the domain walls nucleation process by using the polarizing magnetooptical microscope. The measurements we performed for the patterned layered system with triangle shape. Here, a modification of this method based on an analyze of the magnetization process using magnetooptical hysteresograph for a net of micrometric triangle was proposed. This approach allows easier and faster way to study his strength and the direction of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction. In this work micrometric structures based on the Au/Co/NiO thin film system, which were fabricated using the electron beam lithography and the lift off method by means of magnetron sputtering and the pulsed laser deposition.

As a result, the strength and sign of the Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction for Au/Co/NiO system were determined. It proved, that in this system clockwise chirality is favored by the strong Dzyaloshinskii-Moriya interaction, which is D = 2,66 ± 0,07 [mJ m-2]. It is postulated, that this type of the interaction might be the result of an interaction between spins of Co and NiO through oxygen atom.
