W sesji grudzień 2005 w trakcie listeningu CPE, z powodu niezbyt dobrego nagłośnienia, nie wszyscy słyszeli dobrze teksty. Dodatkowym utrudnieniem było echo, które uniemożliwiało prawidłowe rozumienie tekstów. Podobna sytuacja miała miejsce w 2001 roku. Zarówno Cambridge jak i British Council przyznało wtedy, że jakość listeningu nie była satysfakcjonująca, ale słuchacze nie otrzymali ani zwrotu pieniędzy ani możliwości powtórzenia egzaminu. Uważamy, że taka sytuacja jest nie do przyjęcia. Egzaminy są drogie (ceny w Polsce są takie same jak w Anglii, ale niestety nasze zarobki nie) i powinny być przeprowadzone w takich warunkach, aby każdy miał jednakową szansę je zdać. Nasi słuchacze wystosowali pismo, które wysłaliśmy do Cambridge. Na prośbę naszych słuchaczy zamieszczam treść listu poniżej. Napiszcie czy też spotkaliście się z utrudnieniami w trakcie listeningu i jakie jest Wasze zdanie na ten temat.

It is with regret that we feel we must write to express our disappointment at the quality and condition of the Listening Paper during the Proficiency Examination held on 10th December. Furthermore, we feel that the Gromada Hotel Conference Hall, in which it was held, was not entiely suitable.
There were several problems experienced by candidates in the exam in the Conference Hall First and foremost, was the acoustics of the room, which left a lot to be desired. The speakers were placed at the front enabling only the first rows to hear the text clearly; many candidates in the middle or towards the back of the venue found the texts almost inaudible; there was a presitent echo throughout the examination and, if that were not enough, the vast majority of us were seated behind huge rectangular pillars.
Your examination Board has a distguished reputation for high quality throughout the world and that is precisely why we decided to take such an examination. Contrary to our expectations, the organisation of this exam was not entirely flawless. Seating in the Hall and ability to hear the text seemed to have been arbitrary and merely a matter of chance. In short, we feel dissatisfied and anxious as what effect these problems will have on our results.
We would, therefore, like to propose that in the future you conduct the examination in a way that is fair to all candidates. This could be achieved by holding the exam in smaller rooms or by providing headphones. For our part, we would like to have opportunity to retake this examination under fairer and less random conditions.
