I finished the Lord of the Rings and now I’m reading a new book.

Chyba intencją tego zdania jest przekazanie, że mam skończoną Lord of the Rings i już zajmuję się czytaniem nowej książki. Jeśli bym skończył Lord of the Rings dawniej, np. dwa tygodnie temu, to bym chyba nie mówił, że: finished tylko, bardziej naturalnie byłoby powiedzieć, że przeczytałem.
Czyli albo:
I have finished the Lord of the Rings and now I’m reading a new book.
albo:
I read the Lord of the Rings and now I’m reading a new book.
= kiedyś tam w przeszłości czytałem Lord of the Rings (może już nie pamiętam o czym to, ale skoro pytasz... A teraz czytam nową.
Czy może się czepiam? Denerwują mnie takie niejednoznaczne przykłady w testach.
