OK. this is where I stand on this....
This IS a great educational web site... we all agree on that. We are helping others and learn at the same time. We assume that others are doing the same and there is no harm to it whatsoever.
If the complaint were to come from a professional group of translators/ interpreters and we are causing them to starve to death because of what we are doing, I could possibly understand their point.....However, there is an abundance , if not excess, of that kind of work everywhere.
So who gets hurt here?
I know just a little about copywrighted stuff. Any \"intellectual\" property is indeed owned by someone. It has three domains: copywright (like songs, books etc), patent (medications) and trademark (like Pepsi). But how do you define it if it\'s just a loose translation for fun and learning?
Do they really think we are THAT good (???!!!!!) and maybe the translation will make it big on the Polish music charts??? I am just speaking for myself and I guess I shouldn\'t do it for others. But let\'s just face it, it that were to happen I would be the first in line to stick my grabby mitts out for some serious dough...and fast too.
The fact that they don\'t go after illegal music downloads (btw. they are not illegal here in Canada and that has become a real bone of contention for many) is because it\'s almost impossible. It\'s impossible to settle this without spending millions and millions of dollars and most likely the pirating and bootlegging would still continue. Also, there is a huge problem with how you define an \"intellectual property\" when it comes in zeroes and ones. It\'s almost become a national sport for pete\'s sake.
Anyways, if the US government can\'t deal with it, how can anyone see our Polish government succeed ????
Anyways, just bored, I guess, I thought I would leave a quick note...probably number 2574...on this page...
:)
...while writing this I found out that my log in name expired...not too sure why...
