Jeśli użycie they jest nieformalne, to jaka jest formalna alternatywa? He?

A może chodzi o to, że question tags są nieformalne? Pomożecie, proszę?

1 nie, 'they' nie jest tu nieformalne, to jest forma neutralna i nie ma innej możliwości, więc być może faktycznie pan Quirk pije do tego, że same question tags so nieformalne

2 faktycznie, takie 'he' zalatuje troche formalnością, ja też to jeszcze widuje, ale ta forma z oczywistych powodów już chyba odchodzi do lamusa, a na pewno nie można twierdzić, że 'they' jest nieformalne
