Past Simple i Continuous - łączenie zdań

Witam.
Polecenie:
Rewrite the pairs of sentences to make one sentence. Use when or while with the past simple and the past continuous.
1. I walked home. It started to rain.
2. My friend came to see me. I had dinner.
3. I talked to my friend on the phone. Susan knocked at the door.
4. The singer met the members of the group. She recorded a radio programme.
5. Paul toured around France. He met his wife.
6. Sally did her homework. Her mother called her for dinner.

poszedlem do domy, kiedy zaczelo padac.
Pewnie nie o to chodzilo, tylko 'kiedy zaczelo padac, szedlem do domu'

albo: While it started to rain, I walked home.
2. My friend came to see me while I had dinner.
while czyli podczas gdy cos robilem, podczas gdy trwala jakas czynnosc, czyli past continuous

3. Susan knocked at the door when I were talking to my friend on the phone.
jakie "I were"? tu jest blad

6. Ach, faktycznie literówka, nie "mather" lecz "mother".

1. Nie rozumiem niestety. Skąd przypuszczenie, że powinno być "kiedy zaczelo padac, szedlem do domu"? Logiczniejsze wydaje mi się właśnie "poszedlem do domy, kiedy zaczelo padac". Natomiast jak to ma się do ułożonych przeze mnie zdań - czy jest poprawnie?

3. A zatem powinno być: "I was"?

ad 1
a) 'walk' wskazuje na spacerowe tempo chodu. Kiedy zaczyna padać, zwykle nie idzie się do domu w tempie spacerowym, wg mnie wznaczeniu "POszedlem do domu' pasuje tu czasownik 'go'. skoro ma być użyty walk, stawiam, że odnosi się do czynności wykonywanej, gdy zaczęło padać.
b) pewnie w każdym zdaniu trzeba było użyć jednego czaoswnika w Simple a drugiego w Continuous
Ad. 3 tak.

Jak dla mnie to zdanie powinno wyglądać tak: I was walking home when it started rain. Na polski: Szedłem do domu, gdy zaczęło padać. Logiczne połączenie past simple i past continuous. Wykonywałam ciągłą czyność, gdy stało się coś niespodziewanego.

oh... przepraszam powinno być : I was walking home when it started to rain. ( bezokolicznik) :)
