The article presents an understanding of success on the example of international conflict in Libya. Parties to the conflict are America, Great Britain and France that are against Mr. Quadafi. In the text situation of the Libya is compared to the situation in Bośnia in 1992 where the murderous standoff stopped but none of the parties had no chance to win. The autors of the book under the title „Falling to Win: Perception of Victory and Defeat in International Politics” shows a model presenting the perception of military conflicts by national publics as victories or defeats. As a results military defeats often become victories in the popular imagination and vice versa. Public opinion is shaped by the information coming from the media and government. In this way creates pitch on which the conflict plays out. Conflict played out on it but it is a match-fixing and the winner is predetermined. In case of conflict in Libya the winner was the United States. The last part of the text presents the many faces of U.S tactics against Libya. As a result, each of them would lead to victory. But public opinion in America's military victory in Libya is not perceived as successful because of what is actually happening in Libya.
