With the development of technology, internet users gained practically unlimited access to sources about languages from whole world. But to master countless number of words and principles, which let to free communication (or just basic) - it needs time. Addictionaly, not used knowledge gradually falls into oblivion. Nowadays there are lots of methods facilitating learning process eg. flashcard method, n-back test, Leitner system, cloze deletions and memory palace - some of them were used in this thesis. Furthermore, new method for training knowledge of ideographic signs, among others, has been elaborated. The subject of this thesis is a design and project of an application facilitating learning process in Unity platform. Prior to designing application, a set of preparations was undertaken, which included setting goals that applications should fulfill and theory about memory and learning process. The subsequent stage covered the programming part. Finally, last chapter includes conclusions and propositions for future development of applications that facilitate learning of languages.

In application user have possibility to receive feedback information about progress in terms of developoing vocabulary konwledge. It has been toachieved thanks to implementation of system for recognition of signs. This thesis is also mini guide to Unity 3D. Although it is used mostly for designing of game, this thesis can be considered as an example of other applications with additional components like Photon Cloud for multiplayer, Wacom tablet or usage of Google Translate service.

Cześć ponownie. Bardzo dziękuję za wszelką pomoc w kwestii pomocy i poprawek do streszczenia (nie tylko językowych, ale i, co dla mnie było bardzo pomocne, stylistycznych). Niestety okazało się, że potrzebna jest jeszcze jedna wersja streszczenia - tym razem na całą stronę A4 (takie wymagania...), w związku z czym na bazie poprzedniego streszczenia, dopisałem kilka zdań. Wiem, że tekst długi, ale czy byłby ktoś pomocny i miał chwilę czasu, żeby wskazać co większe błędy? Z góry bardzo dziękuję.

The subject of this thesis is the design and project of an application (named Memlife) facilitating the learning process in a Unity platform. This master thesis aproaches the aspects of using application software for developing both learning by heart and understanding. The application contains modules, which can relate to different types of educational materials that can be presented as texts. In this thesis the following methods have been used: cloze test, flashcards method (implementing Supermemo algorithm) and memory palace. Furthermore, a new method for training knowledge of ideographic signs (writing system in which the ideograms signify words e.g. Kanji) and syllabaries (a set of written symbols that represent the syllables or moras) Hiragana and Katakana, among others, has been elaborated on. The second module using memory palace is concentrated on remembering of playing cards in a 3d space created by Unity engine, although in the last chapter this limitation is discussed in regarding to different solution. Module using cloze test and flashcards has been divided to submodules in terms of test that user want to make. Each submodule implements different method to test knowledge from methodology of educational tests. This methodology includes fill-in-the-blank and multiple-choice test for sentences, words and long text (only fill-in-the-blank test). Furthermore, the user have possibility to translate and listen unknown words on the fly using available translator. This thesis consists of four main parts. In the first section, the author describes basics of programming in Unity for better understanding of specifics of game engine. Although it is used mostly for designing of games, this thesis can be considered as an example of its other applications with additional components like Photon Cloud for multiplayer games, Wacom tablet or usage of Google Translate service. Prior to the designing, a set of preparations was undertaken, which included setting goals that an application should fulfill and a theory about a memory and learning process. In the module for writing user have possibility to receive feedback information about their progress in terms of developing vocabulary knowledge. This has been achieved thanks to the implementation of the system for the recognition of signs using $P algorithm for multistroke recognition of gestures as point clouds. The second part is devoted to functional specification of the application. This chapter formalizes the idea of the application for memory training by outlining the user interface and describing each module in terms of available options for user. The third part of thesis is practical implementation of each module. This chapter contains architecture of the applications with case studies. In the fourth and last part, more comprehensive structural approaches to cloze tests are discussed. It is hoped this application will provide practical tool for memory training with emphasis on learning of languages.
