He was unaware of the police('s) watching him.

Czy apostrof z "s" może tutaj wystąpić?
tutaj raczej nie
Dlaczego?
Cause police ARE not IS.
to nie o to chodzi, ze 'police' przyjmuje liczbe mnoga czasownika
Enlighten me.
a o co?
dopelniacz ('s) tutaj nie odpowiada jego funkcji
Dlaczego nie odpowiada?
nie pasuje, moze tak ujme to
('s) nie pasuje bo .... police is plural? ;-))
I objected to his being lazy.
I objected to Piotr's being lazy.
I objected to Martha's friends' being lazy.
I object to people's behaving as if they were the most important in the world.

Dwa ostatnie zdania są tutaj niepoprawne?
tutaj wszystkie dopelniacze pasuja; teraz tylko pytanie: dlaczego nie pasi z tym 'unaware of'

oj polecam sobie poczytac o dopelniaczach, bo wierz mi, ze to nie ma zadnego zwiazku z tym, czy rzeczownik wymaga liczby pojedynczej czy mnogiej danego czasownika
* I object to people's behaving as if they were the most important in the world.
proszxe jeszcze raz przeczytac i zastanowic sie dlaczego to zdanie jest niepoprawne.
Yes, engee is right. I didn't read the sentence correctly. My bad. :-(( Too many brewskies last night.

What's wrong with the sentence?
Yes, engee is right.

Shame you'll never learn.

You were right, I was wrrrrrong. nuff said ;-))
engee, love, now I know you're just kidding me:-)
1. I object to people's behaviour...
2. I object to people behaving...
3.* I object to people's behaving
which one is correct?

engee, love, now I know you're just kidding me:-)

This'll teach you a lesson, hopefully :D
People's behaving as if they were the most important in the world makes me feel sad about them.
People behaving as if they were the most important in the world makes me really sad about them.

The difference - apart from that little adverb 'really' - is that the first one can be perceived as slightly more formal, whereas the other as slightly informal. Nothing to worry about, as you get the meaning of the sentence anyway.
ale engee:
'people behaving' ale 'people's behaviour' -
naprawde nie jestes w stanie zaakceptowac formy 'people's behaving'?
No i co z tą policją w końcu?
'slightly more formal, whereas the other as slightly informal'
Translation:
nit-picking
No i co z tą policją w końcu? no apostrophe, no s.
Ale dlaczego?
>>>naprawde nie jestes w stanie zaakceptowac formy 'people's behaving'?
niestety nie.
Ale czemu nie?
