Użycie kropki (full stop) nie powinno sprawiać problemów - stawiamy ją zawsze na końcu zdania twierdzącego:

I think you are right.	Myślę, że masz rację.
The pen is over there on the table.	Pióro jest tam, na stole.

średnik

1. Gdy jakieś zdanie nawiązuje znaczeniowo do zdania poprzedniego, po pierwszym zdaniu zamiast kropki można postawić średnik (semicolon). Zwróćcie uwagę, że po średniku zdanie zaczynamy z małej litery:

Granny was irritated; nobody wanted to play cards with her.

Some women prefer to stop their career when they have children; others want to come back to work as soon as possible.

2. Średnika można też użyć przed however, therefore, moreover, nevertheless, furthermore oraz as a result, that is, in fact, for example, jeżeli po tych słowach/wyrażeniach następuje pełne zdanie:

John seems to be a nice man; however, most people don't like him.

I have never eaten oysters; in fact, I have never eaten seafood.

3. Średników używamy także do oddzielenia wymienionych elementów, gdy w obrębie tych elementów znajdują się już przecinki:

I cannot decide which of my friends I like best: Fiona, whose sense of humour has cheered me up so many times; Jenny, with her empathy and support; or Lisa, who has never let me down.

1. Dwukropek (colon) jest używany przed wymienianymi kolejno elementami*:

We need the following equipment: computers, printers, and shredders.

I think the things that make a good teacher are the following: patience, friendliness, and understanding.

* Uwaga:

Dwukropka nie stosujemy przed listą elementów bezpośrednio po czasowniku to be oraz po przyimku, czyli w zdaniach poniżej jest użyty błędnie:

I think the things that make a good teacher are: patience, friendliness, and understanding.

We talked about: politics, love, sport.

2. Dwukropka używamy między głównym tytułem i podtytułem książki, sztuki, filmu, itp.:

The Gordon Sisters: A Story of Courage

The Future of Technology: A Brief Analysis

3. Gdy podajemy godzinę:

The meeting starts at 12:30.

I'll be back by 7:15 a.m.

4. Można spotkać dwukropek po powitaniu w listach formalnych (ale przecinek też jest dobry):
