Hello everyone,
I’m happy that you here with me to listen my presentation.

Because I was under big influence on last Kasia’s presentation and because I don’t have such a great number of photos in my dormitory house I would like to show you a places connected with myself and If we have enough time. I’ll tell you about some other interesting places. Maybe it’s not original idea but because each place is different and has different history I hope this presentation will be master and you will be overjoyed. First I present you history, I will try to do it as short as I can and than I surprise you with some curious information.

My hometown is Braniewo where I was born. It’s in the north-east part of Poland, about 400 km from Poznań. As you can see on this little map it’s near the Russian border, about 10 km from Kalingrad district. We even have cases that some careless people cross the border by accident, for example they are in the forest and they are captured and imprisoned by Russian army as an spy or agent. So it’s very dangerous to go there to the forest.

Braniewo is also 10 km from Vistula bay. It’s not a sea. The nearest seaside resort is about 80km away and it’s Stegna. On this Vistula Bay we’ve got a surfing school and each year in the summer time more and more people come there to learn how to surf. And this pace is really created for people who begin their adventure with surfing because the bay is shallow so it is very safe. Wind is quite constant so it is ideal and each year water is cleaner. I think you should try it.

People think that everything what is in the northern-east part of Poland belongs to Mazury. Maybe nowadays there is no difference between this two lands. But there were lots of differences in the old times. I’m not from Mazury. I’m from Warmia. Maybe someone of you know what’s the difference between Mazury and Warmia? None? Ok
Firstly in Warmia lived pagan Prussian Warmia tribes and there were no Mazury tribes and for the first time name Mazury was used just in nineteenth century.
Secondly when teutonic order killed all pagan this land was catholic and Mazury were Protestant.
And thirdly it ‘s only my observation. In Warmia you’ve got lots of small old beautiful gothic castles and cathedrals and in Mazury you’ve got marvelous landscapes with lakes.

Braniewo is the oldest town of Warmia grounded in thirteenth century and it was the first capital of Warmia. In the beginning here lived Prussian tribes later Teutonic Order and Bishops of Warmia.

Children at school on history lessons learn that in sixteenth century bishop Stanisław Hozjusz brought Company of Jesus to Poland, and the first place where he brought them and where he found his collegium was Braniewo. So it was important place of culture and religion.

Here we can see crest of the city. Dragon is a symbol of paganism and deer a symbol of Christianity. They have gold elements because they are royal animals and they are under lime – tree. This crest symbolizes existing of two religions on this land. And they are red because red is a color of Warmia. The name Warmia means red land.

That’s all with old history.

Now something about modern history. Do you remember this beer ? I remember it very well because I lived opposite this brewery where the production of EB took place and it is very sad for me to talk about it. EB and Special were produced in Braniewo and in Elbląg. In 1993 investors from Australia bought this two breweries and started production of EB and then Special. These two letters are a first letters from name of the town where beer was produced E – Elbląg, B – Braniewo. Here we can see some animals – kangaroo and ostrich – symbols of Australia.
In 1995 brewery in Braniewo was most modern and the best brewery in Poland. Probably from 1993 to 1998 EB was the most popular beer in Poland.
But then, oddly enough in 1998 investors from Australia for which brewery belonged to decided sold it to Żywiec Group. They said that it was some kind of merger but everyone knew that it is not a merger but takeover. Some people said that Żywiec wanted to stop production from the beginning because it was unprofitable and they had enough of their own breweries.
Others said that they try save this brand and that’s why they spend fifty millions zloty on commercial with Jan Reno but they don’t have good strategy. So in 2001 they stopped production and they closed this brewery. So we can say it collapsed.

It was quite modern brewery with new facilities so they dismantled this facilities and put into their own breweries or some other parts they sold to scrap yard.
I’ve got a short 3 minutes film about this situation from 2001 but it’s in polish, if someone is interested I can show it later ?

But from the very beginning all this enterprise was one big scram. And I’m sure that you could make a really great movie about it.
Tony Oates the founder of EB was some kind of magician in the world of business. He was sought in Australia for tax fraud more than 100 mln $. So he fled to Poland in 1991 to avoid Australian law and he started new life and new business. I think he’s a really smart guy but he’s a swindler.

Brewery was closed for about 5 years until in 2006 an investor from Elbląg bought this brewery and started producing new bear- Barkas.
After two months of its existence on the market Żywiec Group brought an action against Barkas because it had similar label to special. They accused Barkas that it impersonates to the well known brand and that it is hard for a common customer to see the difference and to distinguish this two kinds of beer. After a year Żywiec Group won the trial, the brewery collapsed for the third time.
Earlier it collapsed for the second time in 2003 when Dr.Witt wanted to produce juices there but they couldn’t achieve an agreement with our authorities. What’s more our water is very good and it don’t need additional treatment that’s why production of drinks from the health point of view is profitable. Nowadays of course brewery doesn’t work Some people said that Kulczyk bought brewery but it’s only a gossip. This gossip is not pointless because in this year Kulczyk bought our local big cross-border company and now in this area he controls 16% of Russian import especially based on coal and artificials.

That’s all about industry.

I beat that you know where the biggest zoo in Poland is. It’s Wrocław that’s right. But did you ever think where the smallest zoo in Poland is? Of course it’s in Braniewo. It’s the smallest zoo in Poland and the only one zoo in all Warmińsko – Mazurskie voivodship. It’s almost in the center of the city and it was grounded in 1955. It’s near the cathedral and our local priest wanted to shut down this zoo because when he prayed in a church with worshippers often lions roared or goats bleated. We have had a referendum about this issue and people decided not to close the zoo. It’s probably the smallest zoo in the Europe I think and we have normal exotic animals – tiger, monkyes, dingo dog. My grandmother works there. Nowadays I would like to close down this zoo too because animals there are so skinny, they don’t have enough space, they are sad and they have many diseases.

I’ve got question for you. All of you know that Mikołaj Kopernik was born in Toruń, but do you know where he spend most of his life - about thirty-three year until he died? And in this place he made his biggest discoveries. Not in Braniewo, but in very small city 10 km away from Braniewo. It’s Frombork. In Toruń they called everything what they can as a Kopernik, Kopernik hotels, Kopernik university, Kopernik ginger cakes. That’s why when people here about Kopernik they think about Toruń. But the truth is he was born there an spend there his childhood. All his works and tools of work are in museum of Mikołaj Kopernik in Frombork, there is a lots of interesting things. There was a time when his biggest life’s work was in frombork but now it’s in Jagieloński university.

In my place there is more interesting places things to see and we’ve got lots of beautiful legends but we don’t have enough time to speak about all of them. I’m sad that this places aren’t promoted well actually they aren’t promoted at all. The only visitors in Frombork and Braniewo are old mean Germans. I’ve got a friend who works in restaurant in the summertime and she said that they always have lots of problems with old Germans because they don’t want to pay. They eat a dish, they say it was tasteless and that they don’t want to pay, or they can eat and then they rune away from this restaurant. If they tip it’s 20groszy or maximum 50 groszy.

Old Germans aren’t enough that’s why I think authorities should promote this area. And I invite you to come see and have a great time. Everything there is very cheep, you can have a really great time.

Hello everyone,
I'm happy 'that you' TO HAVE YOU here with me to listen TO my presentation.

'Because I was under big influence on last' (nie, zaczniej to inaczej, generalnie nie zaczynamy zdan z 'beczuse...moze tak...Influenced as I was by Kasia's last presentation) 'Kasia's presentation' (niepotr) and because I don't have such a great number of photos WITH ME in my dormitory house I would like to show you a places connected with myself and if we have enough time, I'll tell you about some other interesting places. Maybe it's not AN original idea but because each place is different and has different history I hope this presentation 'will be master' (Tego nie rozumiem....) and you will be 'overjoyed' (za 'gorace' slowo na to, moze lepiej 'satisfied'?). First I'm going to present you 'the' A BRIEF history, I will 'try to do it as short as I can' BE BRIEF and 'than' THEN I MAY surprise you with some curious information.

My hometown WHERE I WAS BORN is Braniewo. 'where I was born' (niepotr). It's in the north-east part of Poland, about 400 km from Poznań. As you can see on this little map it's near the Russian border,(troche tego nie rozumiem, mowisz o Poznaniou a potem o granicy z Rosja?) about 10 km from THE Kalingrad district. We even have cases 'that' OF some 'careless' (zle slowo- oni nie byli 'careless') people crossING the border by accident, for example they 'are' WERE in the forest and 'they are' END UP BEING captured and imprisoned by THE Russian army as 'an' spIES or agentS (bo mowilas o 'people' a to l. mnoga). So IT WOULD SEEM THAT it's very dangerous to EVEN go 'there' (niepotr) to the forest.

Braniewo is also 10 km from THE Vistula bay. 'It's not a sea' (nie rozumiem tergo pojecia tutaj). The nearest seaside resort is about 80km away and it's CALLED Stegna. On this Vistula Bay we've got a surfing school and each year in the summer time more and more people come 'there' HERE to learn how to surf. And this 'pace' PLACE 'is' WAS really created for people who ARE ABOUT TO begin their adventure with surfing because the bay is shallow so it is very safe. THE wind is quite constant so it is ideal and each year the water is cleaner AND CLEANER. I think you should try it.
People think that everything 'what' THAT is in the northern-east part of Poland belongs to THE Mazury DISTRICT. Maybe nowadays there is no difference between 'this' THESE (bo 'lands' to l. mnoga) two lands. But there were lots of differences in the old times. I'm not from Mazury. I'm from Warmia. Maybe 'someone' SOME of you know 'what's the difference' WHAT THE DIFFERENCE IS between Mazury and Warmia? None? Ok
Firstly in Warmia THERE lived THE pagan Prussian Warmia tribes and there were no Mazury tribes and for the first time THE name Mazury was used 'just' (niepotr) in THE nineteenth century.
Secondly when THE Teutonic order killed all paganS this land was Catholic and Mazury were Protestant.
And thirdly, ALTHOUGH it's only my observation. In Warmia you've got lots of small old beautiful gothic castles and cathedrals and in Mazury you've got marvelous landscapes with lakes.

Braniewo is the oldest town of Warmia 'grounded' (zle slowo- nie wiem co chcesz powiedziec) in thirteenth century and it was the first capital of Warmia. In the beginning here lived THE Prussian tribes AND later THE Teutonic Order and THE Bishops of Warmia.

Children at school 'on' DURING THEIR history lessons learn that in THE sixteenth century Bishop Stanisław Hozjusz brought THE Company of Jesus to Poland, and the first place where he brought them and where he found his collegium was Braniewo. So it BRANIEWO BECAME AN important place of culture and religion.

Here we can see THE crest of the city. THE dragon is a symbol of paganism and THE deer a symbol of Christianity. They BOTH have gold elements because they are royal animals and they are under A lime-tree. This crest symbolizes THE 'existing' EXISTANCE of two religions on this land. And they are red because red is a color of Warmia. The name Warmia means red land.

BUT that's all with THE old history.
Now something about modern history. Do you remember this beer? I remember it very well because I lived opposite this brewery where the production of EB took place and it is very sad for me to talk about 'it' THIS. EB and Special BEERS were produced in Braniewo and in Elbląg. In 1993 investors from Australia bought 'this' THESE two breweries and started THE production of EB and then THE Special. These two letters are 'a' THE first letters from THE name of the town where THE beer was produced E - Elbląg, B - Braniewo. Here we can see some animals - kangaroo and ostrich - THE symbols of Australia.
In 1995 THE brewery in Braniewo was THE most modern and the best brewery in Poland AND probably from 1993 to 1998 EB was the most popular beer in Poland.
But then, oddly enough in 1998 THE investors from Australia 'for which' TO WHOM THE brewery belonged to decided to sell it to THE Żywiec Group. They 'said' INSISTED that it was some kind of merger but everyone knew that it 'is' WAS not a merger but A takeover. Some people said that Żywiec wanted to stop production from the beginning because it was unprofitable and they had enough of their own breweries.
Others said that they WOULD try TO save this brand and that's why they 'spend' SPENT fifty millions zloty on A commercial with Jan Reno (napisz tutaj kto to jest - ) but they 'don't' DIDN'T have A good strategy. So in 2001 they stopped THE production and they closed this brewery. So we can say THAT it HAS collapsed.

It was quite A modern brewery with new facilities so they dismantled 'this' THESE , jak masz rzecz. l. mn to THESE) facilities and put THEM into their own breweries 'or' AND 'some' THE UNWANTED 'other' (niepotr) parts they sold OFF to A scrap yard.
I've got a short 3 minutes film about this situation from 2001 but it's in Polish, BUT if someone is interested I can show it TO THEM later.
But from the very beginning all this enterprise was one big scram. And I'm sure that you could make a really great movie about it ALL.
Tony Oates the founder of EB was some kind of magician in the world of business. He was sought in Australia for tax fraud OF more than 100 mln $. So he fled to Poland in 1991 to avoid Australian law and he started A new life and A new business. I think he's a really smart guy but he's a 'swindler' (nie wiem czy to slowo powinnas mowic- ).

THE brewery was closed for about 5 years until in 2006 an investor from Elbląg bought this brewery and started producing new 'bear' BEER- CALLED Barkas.
After two months of its existence on the market THE Żywiec Group brought an action against Barkas because it had similar label to THE Special. They accused Barkas that 'it impersonates' OF IMPERSONATING 'to the' A well known brand and OF THE FACT that it 'is' WAS hard for a 'common' (nie za bardzo lubie to slowo, m,oze -'EVERYDAY) customer to see the difference and to distinguish BETWEEN 'this' THESE two kinds of beer. After a year OF LITIGATION THE Żywiec Group won the trial AND the brewery collapsed for the third time.
'Earlier it' (napisz to inaczej...THE BREWERY HAD collapsed for the second time in 2003 when Dr.Witt wanted to produce FRUIT juices there but they couldn't achieve an agreement with 'our' THE POLISH authorities. 'What's more' 9THE REASONING BEHIND THIS WAS THAT THE POLISH 'our' (niepotr) water is very good and it 'don't' (to jest tak kolokw-ze mnie az boli - DOES NOT need ANY additional treatment that's why production of drinks from the health point of view 'is' WOULD BE profitable. Nowadays of course THE brewery doesn't work. Some people said that Kulczyk (napisz kto to jest, ze najbogatszy...) bought brewery but it's only 'a gossip' HERESAY. This gossip HOWEVER is not pointless because 'in' (niepotr) this year Kulczyk bought 'our' THE local big cross-border company (jak znasz nazwe to napisz tutaj) and now in this area he controls 16% of ALL Russian import especially THAT based on coal and 'artificials' (nie rozumiem tego slowa-co chcesz powiedziec).

That's all about industry.
I 'beat' BET that you know where the biggest zoo in Poland is. It's IN Wrocław (that's right). But 'did you ever think' HAVE YOU EVER THOUGHT where the smallest zoo in Poland is? Of course it's in Braniewo. It's the smallest zoo in Poland and the only one zoo in all Warmińsko - Mazurskie voivodship. It's almost in the center of the city and it was 'grounded' (zle slowo- nie wiem co chcesz powiedziec, lepiej FOUNDED) in 1955. It's near the cathedral and our local priest wanted to shut down this zoo because when he prayed in 'a' HIS church with THE worshippers often THE lions WOULD 'roared' ROAR or THE goats WOULD 'bleated' BLEAT. We 'have had' ENDED UP HAVING a referendum about this issue and THE people decided not to close the zoo. It's probably the smallest zoo in 'the' (niepotr) Europe I think and we have THE 'normal' USUAL exotic animals - tiger, 'monkyes' MONKIES AND EVEN A dingo dog. My grandmother works there. Nowadays I PERSONALLY would like to close down this zoo too because THE animals there are so skinny, they don't have enough space, they are VERY sad and they have many diseases.

NOW I've got question for you. All of you know that Mikołaj Kopernik was born in Toruń, but do you know where he spent most of his life - about thirty-three yearS until he died? And IT SO HAPPENS THAT in this place he made his biggest discoveries. Not in Braniewo, but in A very small city 10 km away from Braniewo. 'It's' THE CITY'S NAME IS Frombork. In Toruń they 'called' HAVE NAMED everything 'what' THAT they can as 'a' (niepotr) Kopernik, Kopernik hotels, Kopernik university, Kopernik ginger cakes. That's why when people 'here' (zle slowo tutaj HEAR about Kopernik they ONLY think about Toruń. But the truth is THAT he was only born there an spend there his ENTIRE childhood. All his works and tools of work are in THE Mikolaj Kopernik museum 'of Mikołaj Kopernik' (niepotr) in Frombork, there 'is' ARE a 'lots' LOT of interesting things. There was a time when his 'biggest'(nie za bardzo to slowo tutaj pasuje, moze MOMENTOUS life's work was BASED in Frombork but now it's LOCATED in THE Jagieloński University IN KRAKOW.

In my 'place' TOWN there 'is' ARE more interesting places AND things to see and we've got lots of beautiful legends but we don't have enough time to 'speak' TALK about all of them. I'm sad that 'this' THESE-l. mnoga, jak rzecz l. mn to THESE) places 'aren't' ARE NOT WELL promoted 'well'(niepotr) AND actually they 'aren't' ARE NOT promoted at all. The only visitors 'in' TO Frombork and Braniewo are old mean Germans. I've got a friend who works in A restaurant in the summertime and she said that they always have lots of problems with old Germans because they don't want to pay. They eat a dish, they say it was tasteless and that they don't want to pay, or they 'can' (niepotr) eat and then they run away from the restaurant WITHOUT PAYING. AND if they tip it's 20groszy or maximum 50 groszy (which is equivalent to xxx euro or xxx pounds).

BUT old German VISITORS 'aren't' ARE NOT enough AND that's why I think authorities should promote this area. And I WARMLY invite you ALL to come and see and have a great time. Everything there is very cheap AND you can have a really great time.
dziękuję bardzo pięknie za pomoc,

Hello everyone,
I'm happy TO HAVE YOU here with me to listen TO my presentation.

Influenced as I was by Kasia's last presentation and because I don't have such a great number of photos WITH ME in my dormitory house, I would like to show you a few places connected with myself and if we have enough time, I'll tell you about some other interesting places. Maybe it's not AN original idea but because each place is different and has a different history I hope this presentation will be professional and you will be satisfied. First I'm going to present you A BRIEF history, I will BE BRIEF and THEN I MAY surprise you with some curious detail.

My hometown WHERE I WAS BORN is Braniewo. It's in the north-east part of Poland, about 400 km from Poznań. As you can see on this little map it's near the Russian border, about 10 km from THE Kalingrad district. We even have accidents when some careless people crossING the border by mistake, for example they WERE in the forest and END UP BEING captured and imprisoned by THE Russian army as spIES or agentS. So IT WOULD SEEM THAT it's very dangerous to EVEN go to the forest.

Braniewo is also 10 km from THE Vistula bay. Vistula bay belongs to Baltic Sea. The nearest seaside resort is about 80km away and it's CALLED Stegna. On this Vistula Bay we've got a surfing school and each year in the summer time more and more people come HERE to learn how to surf. And this PLACE WAS really created for people who ARE ABOUT TO begin their adventure with surfing because the bay is shallow so it is very safe. THE wind is quite constant so it is ideal and each year the water is cleaner AND CLEANER. I think you should try it.

People think that everything THAT is in the northern-east part of Poland belongs to THE Mazury DISTRICT. I'm not from Mazury. I'm from Warmia. Maybe nowadays there is no difference between THESE two lands. But there were lots of differences in the old times. Maybe SOME of you know WHAT THE DIFFERENCE IS between Mazury and Warmia? None? Ok
Firstly in Warmia THERE lived THE pagan Prussian Warmia tribes and there were no Mazury tribes. THE name Mazury was used for the first time only in THE nineteenth century.
Secondly, when THE Teutonic order killed all the pagans, this land was Catholic and Mazury were Protestant.
And thirdly, ALTHOUGH it's only my observation. In Warmia you've got lots of small old beautiful gothic castles and cathedrals and in Mazury you've got marvelous landscapes with lakes.

Braniewo is the oldest town of Warmia founded in thirteenth century and it was the first capital of Warmia. In the beginning here lived THE Prussian tribes AND later THE Teutonic Order and THE Bishops of Warmia.

In history lessons at school, children learn that in the sixteenth century a bishop called Stanisław Hozjusz brought The Company of Jesus also known as the Jesuits to Poland, and the first place where he brought them and where he found his collegium was Braniewo. So it was an important place of culture and religion.

Here we can see THE crest of the city. THE dragon is a symbol of paganism and THE deer a symbol of Christianity. They BOTH have gold elements because they are royal animals and they are under A lime-tree. This crest symbolizes THE EXISTANCE of two religions in this land. And they are red because red is a color of Warmia. The name Warmia means red land.

That’s all about the old history.

Now something about modern history. Do you remember this beer? I remember it very well because I lived opposite the brewery where the production of EB took place and it is very sad for me to talk about THIS. EB and Special BEERS were produced in Braniewo and in Elbląg. In 1993 investors from Australia bought THESE two breweries and started THE production of EB and then THE Special. So in 2001 they stopped THE production and they closed this brewery. So we can say THAT it HAS collapsed.

It was quite A modern brewery with new facilities so they dismantled THESE facilities and put THEM into their own breweries AND THE UNWANTED parts they sold OFF to A scrapyard.

THE BREWERY HAD collapsed for the second time in 2003 when Dr.Witt wanted to produce FRUIT juices there but they couldn't achieve an agreement with THE local authorities. THE REASONING BEHIND THIS WAS THAT our local water is very good and it DOES NOT need ANY additional treatment that's why production of drinks from the health point of view WOULD BE profitable.
