Q: How do I change my name?
We would be happy to assist you in correcting your Facebook user name. Before we can process this request, please keep in mind the following. Facebook requires that all users sign up using their full first and last names. We do not process any requests for name changes unless the full first and last name is included. Please note that if you are concerned about your privacy you can always restrict who can find you in searches from the Privacy page. In addition, Fake names are a violation of our Terms of Use. Facebook requires users to provide their full first and last names (i.e. no initials). Nicknames can be used in the form of FirstName 'NickName' LastName, but only if they are a variation on your real first or last name, such as 'Bob' instead of 'Robert'. Additionally, please note that impersonating anyone or anything is prohibited. If you still need us to correct your Facebook name, please respond to this email with your full, real name.

Q: Why is Facebook not working/functioning properly?
A: If you believe that you have found a bug on the site, we appreciate your efforts to contact us in order to resolve this issue. Before we look into this further, be sure that you are using the latest version of a fully supported browser, and you may want to try using a different browser as well. (We currently support the browsers Safari 3, Mozilla Firefox 3, and Mozilla Firefox 2 on Macs; Internet Explorer 7.0, Safari 3, Mozilla Firefox 3, and Mozilla Firefox 2 on PCs.) If you are still experiencing problems after making sure that you are using a fully supported browser, please respond to this email and describe the problem in as much detail as possible. Include any relevant web addresses (URLs), and the full name and network information of any users that you are experiencing problems with. More detailed information will help us investigate the issue more quickly.

Q: Why can't I find someone in search? Why can't people find me, and how do I adjust my settings?
A: At Facebook, we pride ourselves on giving users many different ways to control their privacy. You may be unable to find a user via Search if they have restricted their privacy settings to limit their visibility on the site. For example, if a user only allows their networks and friends to find them in searches, you will be unable to if you are not friends with them or in their network. If you would like to adjust your own privacy, you will find many ways to do so by clicking "Privacy Settings" at the top of any Facebook page. From there, you can go to the "Profile" section to adjust privacy for individual parts of your profile. You can also click the "Search" section to adjust the settings for who can find you in search.

Q: How do I make someone only see my limited profile?
A: You can restrict a friend to limited profile status from the Friends page. In the navigation column, select "Limited Profile" under "Friend Lists." If you do not see a "Limited Profile" friend list in this section, you can create one by clicking the "Make a new list" button and then naming the list. Next, type your friend’s name into the "Add to List" field. To prevent users on this list from seeing certain content, just go to any Profile privacy setting and click "Edit Custom Settings." Enter the name of your limited profile friend list in the "Except These People" section to restrict these users from viewing the profile content you selected. Please keep in mind that you can immediately add someone to this list when confirming or sending a friend request.

Q: How do I block or unblock someone?
A: Blocking allows you to prevent all interactions with someone on Facebook. People you block won't be able to find you in searches, view your profile, or contact you with pokes, wall posts, or personal messages. You can block people by adding their names to your block list at the bottom of the Privacy page. These people will not be notified when you block them, and any existing ties you have with them will be removed. If you want to block someone who has already blocked you (or someone you can't find in search), just reply to this email with the person's name and network, and we'll take care of this for you. You can remove someone from your block list by clicking on the "Remove" link next to the person’s name at the bottom of the Privacy page. Keep in mind that blocking removes any friend connection. As a result, if you would like to be friends with this person again, you will need to send a new request.

Q: How do I remove a friend?
A: You can remove a friend by clicking the "Remove from Friends" link at the bottom of their profile. Alternatively, you can find this friend on your Friends page and click the "x" to the right of their name. Please note that you will be removed from their Friends list as well and will need to repeat the friend confirmation process if you wish to be friends with this user again.

Q: Why can't I friend this particular person on Facebook?
A: Unfortunately, due to our privacy policy, we cannot help you locate this user's profile. However, the issue that you are experiencing may be caused by the settings on the user's account. Facebook provides its users with many options to control the visibility and accessibility of their profiles. To resolve this issue, please have your friend email us from their login email address and we will look into the issue further. In the meantime, please adjust the Search settings on your Privacy page to ensure that your friend can find you in searches.
