In this work, I discuss themes from the Antoni Libera’s novel Madame. In subsequent chapters of this monograph I present the creations of the main characters – Madame la Directrice, a teacher of the French language, and a student in love with her, as well as the way in which the author illustrated the times of Peereland. The publication explains how a sudden change of the narration affects the comprehension of a work. I supplement my deliberations with a discussion of the language in the novel. In the state of research I describe how critics evaluate a book; for this purpose I use their own articles, reviews. The work also contains the problems from Antoni Libera’s novel Madame. The boy’s youth rebellion against the system of real socialism, his fascination with the elderly woman and the absurdities of the Peereland are just some of the difficulties on the road to happiness of the main character, described by the author.
