Guess I'm a lucky girl. I absolutely detest any kind of kitchen activity (except, maybe, making a cup of coffee). My husband likes cooking, though (thank God!), so we don't have to argue about that one - he cooks, I wash the pots, end of story.
A suggestion to all of you sisters who feel forced to cook just because you're female - STOP! DON'T DO IT! Fight for your right to ignore the oven! ;-))
But seriously, I'm sick and tired of this typically Polish attitude that the woman's place is in the kitchen and the only measure of her worth is the quality of her "grochowka". If she enjoys cooking -that's great, no problem, but not everyone is born with a culinary talent. I don't recall my birth certificate saying that I was born to fry "kotlety" just because I'm female.
That's a myth, often repeated by spoiled little mummy's boys (and their mums!) who never bothered to learn it themselves. (By the way, I noticed that the only Polish guys who were self-sufficient and able to cook were the ones who studied away from home. Interesting...)
To sum up, if you like it, do it, if he likes it, let him do it, if neiter of you like it - you'll both have to learn or opt for bar mleczny.... Good luck with house-trainig those guys, ladies!
