As for this hipbone, it's weird indeed. It's higher and ends the femur in fact, doesn't it? Not the same thing. Almost at the pelvis,but still on the femur or "crowns" it , so to speak. But I guess it's a medical frogs' parlance being put into English by the author ? Ok,it's as clear as mud, then.:)
