Dear Rachel,
Hope this letter finds you in the best of health and cheer. I am really happy to have a friend like you which is a rarity in these times. I am continuing with my studies and quite enjoying the experience. College life is quite different with more responsibilities but I am confident because of friends like you who continue to support me.
What are you doing these days? How are your studies coming along? I understood from last your letter that it is a very demanding subject. I must say that attending Warsaw law must be very challenging but you can definitely do it given your perseverance and diligence.
Few weeks ago I went back home for Halloween… As if life isn't scary enough, we have Halloween!
But what a great time to dress up, have fun and act like kids again, huddling around a fire listening to scary stories or screaming at the latest horror movie. This year we decided to arrange a party for all our nieces and nephews, whole family has got involved. Every one dressed up and we had many games for kids. My mum along with aunties prepared lovely little snacks. We had deadly delicious cup cakes and lots of lovely food. David, my older brother spend all morning decorating the house. My job was the most important- the entertainment. There were Halloween party games and quizzes, and trust me kids love them! We had spooky colouring activities, pumpkin carving also best Halloween costume competition and many other games like ‘Grab the Ghost’…well now that was a real fun! I will explain you the rules: Before the party I have made ghosts by draping a piece of paper towel around a small ball, such as a Super ball (or in a pinch, a wadded-up paper towel). I’ve cinch the towel around the ball and secured with one end of a 2-foot length of yarn. All the spooky players draw a face on their ghosts with markers. At the start of the game, each player is given ten pennies. They had to choose one person to be the goblin. The other players lay their ghosts on the large paper circle and hold on to the yarn leash. The goblin holds the funnel, upside down, at least 2 feet above the circle. Next thing the goblin chooses two numbers on a die, announces them to the group, then rolls. If either of the chosen numbers appears, the players try to pull their ghosts out of the circle before the goblin can slam the funnel down over them. If a player is caught, he must give the goblin a penny. If the chosen numbers do not appear, but the players panic and yank their ghosts out of the circle anyway, it's another penny to the goblin. The goblin, for his part, is allowed to fake a funnel slam, but if he touches any ghost, he must shell out a penny to each player. After three rolls of the die, the next player takes over as goblin. Play is over when one player runs out of pennies. The player with the most coins wins…. Kids loved that game, and we were playing for hours! I will send you some pictures!
Its such shame you could be there with us but I hope we can share some of this coming Halloween, and if we can't, I wish you and yours a safe night full of spooks and enjoyment.
Keep me posted whenever you can. I really enjoy receiving your letters and getting the details of your fun, student life.
Take care
