One day something unexpected happened to me. As a volleyball player I was attending the national competition in Cracow. The weather was marvellous, which I considered as a good sign.
Hardly had I entered the changing room, the captain of my team, Laura, came around and said I should have hurried up. As soon as I walked on the gym, I noticed that I was the only missing member of my group.
Our first match started half hour later. We were very confident because our rivals were known for poor skills. Only had we scored the third point, something surprising happened. One of the girls from the opposite team twisted the ball over the net in the way none of us expected. They were so determined that we soon found ourselves in a serious trouble. Finally we lost the match. Astonished I fell on the bench. Laura started shouting 'Girls! That's our fault, we mocked the rivals. Let's get up and show everybody how we can play!' The next confrontation was an utterly stunning show. The professional team from the host city had no difficulty to beat anybody, except for us. After a long struggle we won the match, and every another.
I couldn't believe my eyes when we received the gold medals.The crowd were cheering and our trainer was so proud. Girls and I jumped full of joy. The failure at the beginning didn't cost as a lot, but had given us a big lesson.
