Attitudes twoards older people

Task: You've been asked to conducta a survey and write a report. Your report should discuss how young people where you live feel about older people in the community and the prospect of growing old themselves. You have also been asked to make recommendations about how attitued could be changed.
Introduction
The principal aim of this report is to assess the attitudes of the young towards older people in the community and the prospect of aging themselves. The last section provides a list of recommendations as to how the attitudes could be changed.

Current situation
I surveyed one hundred students at XYZ University. More than 80% responded by saying older people were source of wisdom for the community. It was backed up by some 70 of the questioned stating they should be looked up to and asked for personal guidance. An overwhelming number of responses were positive, acknowledging the status and worth of older people. Few expressed disrespect and were dismissive of older people's value.

With regard to the second question, the students were more divergent with 55 of them stating they were not afraid of aging process and the rest admitting to their worries. The students with positive mindset to aging explained that old age made it possible to gain experience and change one's way of thinking. Among the worried students possible disadvantages of being older, such as poorer health or obligations, outweighed the benefits.

Recommendations
Clearly, the students were almost unanimous in their attitude towards older people and quite incompatible with their views of aging. I would like to draw up a list of possible recommendations:
-organize a social campaign advertising the benefits of having older people in the community and being older
-encourage the young to spend more time with old people
I do believe that these recommendations may help the young to understand better that older age has many profits.
