Most of books from obligatory reading list at school didn't intrested my at all.
But one of them broadend my gaze on word and that book is Lalka wroted by Bolesław Prus. Lalka was published between 1888-1889 in "Kurier Codzienny" and it was reply of breakdown january insurgency.
Lalka is a story of a man,Wokulski, who is not only, successfully businessman, but also idealist. Unfortunately he wrongly allocate his love, what bring him mortifications. Despite his problems with love, Wokulski is character which deserve for respect. He show as, that hard-working connected with reconsider decision and a little bit lucky can help us with achievement any aim.
However his blind love contriced to his disappearance.
Lalka reappear also particulary image of community with end of XIX century. Prus delineating such character like Łęcka, Rzecki, Ochocki or Wysocki describe each social class. Especially distinectly he describe aristocratical class which he shows qua usless and amenable for poverty in country. Prus also demonstrate problems with Jew's and approximate war. Initiation of second narrator allowed to back in time to Napoleon's wars. It also show romanic ideology of elder generatio.
In conclusion Lalka despite impose size is book which we can read on one breath. Multithreaded plot make that everyone can find something iteresting in this book. The novel definitely deserves recomondation.
