Polar zone
This zone is located in Antarctica, Greenland, Arctic and the northern fringes of Siberia. There is eternal snow. The temperature is very low, the average annual temperature reaches -40C. In the winter the temperature can be even -90C, and in the summer it can be 10C. The seasons of the year are marked by the length of the day and night. The annual snowfall is very low, reaches 150 mm. There are very strong winds, which cause blizzards.
Subpolar zone
This zone is located in Northern Siberia, Canada, Sweden and Finland. There is long, frosty winter and short summer. The temperature is low. The average annual temperature reaches -20C. In the winter the temperature can be -30C, in the summer 20C. Precipitation is usually in the form of snow, it reaches 250 mm per year. The amplitude of the temperature is very high, even 60C.
Temperate zone
This zone is located for example in North-East China, Poland, Western Europe, Canada, Northern Japan. There are many types of temperate zone: maritime, continental, transitional, monsoon. The average annual temperature is 10C. In the winter it reaches even -15C, in the summer 25C. The summer is warm and moist, the winter is not so icy. Precipitation of rain is high in summer. It reaches yearly 1000 mm. There are 4 seasons, marked by changes in temperature.
Subtropical zone
This zone is located above the tropics, for example in the Gobi Desert, Korea, South-East China. There are many types of subtropical zone: Mediterranean, monsoon, dry. There is long, dry summer and short, warm winter. The temperature is never below zero. The average annual temperature is 15C. In the winter it rains a lot. Precipitation depends on the season, it reaches yearly 800 mm.
