We celebrate Christmas because of Jesus’ birth. This event takes place every year in catholic countries.
First of all, we start to celebrate Christmas at the beginning of December when Advent starts. It is time of preparation for Jesus Christ birth. There are special Advent masses every day without Sunday. Most of children have an Advent calendar with chocolates for each day.
Secondly, we prepare a lot of dishes for the Christmas Eve Supper. It is tradition to prepare 12 dishes, like number of Apostles. At this time we also buy gifts for our families.
Next, the most popular tradition, in my opinion, is buying and decorating a christmas tree. We usually buy a fir tree or a spruce one and next all family decorate it with chains, glass balls, lights and bells and at the end the head of a family puts a christmas tree spire at a top of a tree.
What is more, we don’t start to celebrate Christmas on 25th but on 24th. It is the Christmas Eve and this time there is the special Christmas Eve Supper. All children in a family should wait for first star at the sky and when it appears the supper can be started.
The next tradition is giving gifts under the christmas tree after supper. Next the youngest child in a family hands gifts out for everyone.Next, we sing Christmas carols, eat ginger bread and just talk to all family. Finally, we go for the Christmas Midnight Mass.
To sum up, Christmas is a beautiful, family-oriented and full of love festival. It is my favourite time in the year.
