Ok. Zapytałem z jakiej racji zdanie My friend was paid $20 to hand out leaflets by them. jest poprawne. Jak wyraźniej można sie wyrazić?
Może ktoś inny?

jak pisalem wyzej, by + agent idzie normalnie po czasowniku, ale powyzsze zdanie, choc dwuznaczne, jest ok

Wiem że solo na tym jadę ale bym miał trudności w zrozumieniu tego gdybym z góry nie wiedział jak brzmi zdanie wyjsciowe;)

jak jest dwuznaczne to tzreba odpuscic sobie tego agent

a dwuznaczne jest dlatego, bo 'my friend' w zdaniu wyjsciowym jest 'raised object' co znaczy ze semantycznie ma role podmiotu dla dlaszej frazy czsownikowej, i pozniej w zdaniu passive ta dwuznacznosc 'is grating' bo agent jest za daleko. Bad syntax

dokladnie tak - zdanie tego typu, gdzie they wystepuje, w passive nie powinno sie w ogole stosowac
passive dobrze sluzy m.in. w sytuacji, kiedy nie mamy sprecyzowanego agenta, tak jak tutaj they, i nie ma za bardzo mozliwosci go przedstawienia
ale w szkole nie nie wiem, co im kaza robic z takimi zdaniami

In syntax they would call it 'asymmetric c-command' because this adjunct ( by them) modifies the wrong verb phrase in the wrong way
