past continuous/simple

Czasem mam kłopot kiedy Past continuous, a kiedy Past simple
Mamy np zdanie:
She was shaking with anger as she left the hotel.
Dlaczego nie ma ... she was leaving ... Jak to zdanie przetłumaczymy na polski? Ona się trzęsła ze złości jak opuszczała hotel. Tak? Jeśli tak to, przecież są dwie czynności następujące jednocześnie, więc ja bym dał wszędzie P.c.

The sentence could be rewritten into:
She left the hotel shaking with anger. - which means that she started shaking in the hotel, was shaking while leaving the hotel and was probably still shaking afterwards.

To znaczy w czasie napadu tręsiawki wyszła z hotelu? :)

Czy poniższe zdanie jest takie samo ja to pierwsze?

She was shaking with anger as telephone rang.

You've illustrated my point of view in the most successful manner.
It's the same situation - before the telephone rang, she had been shaking with anger. We don't know what was the reason for such behaviour without context, but it's obvious that she started shaking before the telephone rang, so it must have been something else that make her shake, not the telephone call.
