Jak będzie 'nie ma nic gorszego niż głupiec, któremu się powodzi' i drugie zdanie 'słowa przystoją kobietom, mężczyznom - czyny', dzięki z góry za odp.
there is nothing worse than a fool getting on well

words are for women as deeds are for men (moja propozycja)
" getting on well"
Ther's no such expression.

There is nothing worse than a well-to-do/ well-off/ prosperous/ wealthy/ affluent fool.
>" getting on well"
>Ther's no such expression.

słownik internetowy:

"dobrze mi sie powodzi - I'm getting on well"

http://www.angool.com/search/index.php?query=powodzi%E6

so...?
nie pisałam tego ze słownika, ale wydawało mi się, że taki zwrot funkcjonuje

to jak to w końcu jest, słownik się myli?
'getting on well' - this expression does exist - except it is more commonly used, when you talk for example about people 'getting on with each other/agreeing'.
eg - 'How are John and Mary getting on? They're getting on very well'. I wouldn't be surprised if it is also used to say that somebody is 'getting on well' in life.
You can always say ..'There's nothing worse than a rich fool'
I know terri this expression getting on well - 'dobrze sie rozumieja, są ze sobą w dobrych stosunkach, etc

you are right, this is what comes to (my at least) mind when thinking ab this expression.
Right. "To get on with each other well" does exist, moreover it's very common. It has totally different meaning, though.
Somehow it didn't jump to my mind then because I thought of the example Iwona had written. I hardly use a dictionary. I usually judge everything if it sounds right. I was too quick to deny its existence for which I'm sorry.
