Unpaid voluntary work - only for wealthy idealists or for everyone? What are its advantages and drawbacks from the perspective of today's job market.
In the world, there are a lot of people who need our help. Special needs children, homeless, ill and weak people - they all wait for us.
First of all, I think that voluntary work isn't profitless. It is true that people who help others don't get money for this, but voluntary work has many additional benefits. For instance volunteer can meet new people and make some lasting friendships or even fall in love. He also shows a good example to others.
On the other hand, from the perspective of today's job market only wealthy people are able to donate money for charity. Nowadays, there are a lot of difficulties with getting a well-paid job in Poland and in order to get it you have to try very hard. The majority of our society isn't able to help others selflessly because it has its own problems. Of course it all depends on the man. Despite the fact that we don't have time and money, we sometimes help others, but generally we don't do this. We only think about ourselves. We don't have time because we have to learn, look for a job. When we find permanent work, we must earn a living. We must also help our family and we haven't much time to each other.
To sum up I would say that today's difficult times don't favour voluntary work.
