"none of" + czasownik w liczbie pojedynczej czy mnogiej?

None of the students was/were invited to make a speech.
None of the experts agrees/agree with the research findings.

Wygląda na to że oba pasuję z lekką zmianą w znaczeniu ale jakoś nie ogarniam różnicy.

Na internecie piszą, że kiedy "none" znaczy "not one" to używamy liczby pojedynczej a kiedy znaczy "not any" to liczby mnogiej.

Ale nie jestem pewien jaka jest różnica między "not one i "not any". Nie jeden i nie jakikolwiek?

Podano jako przyklad do l.p. with none. Faktycznie troche niefortunny, ale reszta jest OK.

No faktycznie baaardzo niefortunne, bo "not any" vs. "not one" nie ma tu nic do rzeczy, bo to rzeczownik określa, czy czasownik ma być w l. poj. czy mn.

Poza tym "not one" nie może odnosić się do rzeczownika niepoliczalnego.
