Every parents has to decide which school is the most suitable for their children. Some of them choose a school which is the nearest their house. But others want to make a choice more consciously. There are many kinds of school: private, public, denominational, art and recently the idea of inclusive schools has become more and more popular. Is it beneficial for children to attend this type of school?

First of all, pupils from inclusive schools have an opportunity to learn how to live together, how to support one another. Healthy children feel needed and they learn how to be responsible for weaker schoolmates. They stop to be egoistic and selfish and start to be tolerant and sensitive for human suffering. Moreover, disabled children have a chance to forget about their physical defects and problems connected with it. Being in the company of their peers, helps them to develop in a more effective way than if they were among the disabled only.

Although the idea of integrated teaching seems to be highly beneficial its drawbacks cannot be ignored. Firstly, it is thought that healthy children who are in one class with disabled, learn much slower than if they were alone. Disabled or handicapped children need a lot of time time to do all school work. As a result, they slow down the work of the whole class. Secondly, teachers pay less attention to healthy children because the disabled need to be under a constant control of them. What is more, inclusive school has to be equipped with necessary, but expensive facility for the disabled. It can turn out, that there are no money to buy facilities for healthy children.

Taking everything into account, we should be aware of the fact that parents can decide what is more important for their children: to have high level of education and good facilities in their schools or instil positive values. There is no doubt, that integrated schooling is the best way to teach children such good features as protectiveness, being helpful, altruistic and responsible.
