One of the gods* of the XXI century and "a thing" without which a tremendous number of contemporary people can't imagine their lifes. It's the Internet, a global computer web which assures a contact with the whole world, no metter where people live. Nevertheless, the unlimited access to the Internet isn't as a good thing as it may seem at first. If we look closer, it may turn out that the Net has also some drawbacks.

The most important advantage of the Internet is that it's a great source of communication. People can get in touch with anybody they want to and they can send their messages from anywhere and in anytime, with help of e-mails, messengers and chats. What is more, thanks to the Internet, which ensures anonymity, many people may overcome their shyness or shame and talk openly about their problems, feelings and emotions. In addition, it's often believed that the Internet is like an enormous encyclopaedia and that it faciliates and accelerates studying. Every information we're interested in can be found here. Moreover, the searching process is very short and people don't even have to stand from a front of their computers to go to the library. Furthermore, almost every bussines may be dispatched through the mediation of the Internet. Shopping or bank transfers - only a few clicks of the mouse and everytihing is done. Things which were troublesome to do in the past now require little effort. In this way, the Internet users are sparing their priceless time and their opportunities to find something important to them are no longer as limited as they used to be before the invention of the Internet.

* Hmmm, I suppose that this word isn't suitable here, is it? I don't know which one I should use... I wanted to use a diminutive of "god", but does the English language has its counterpart?

What is more, thanks to the Internet, which ensures anonymity, many people may overcome their shyness or 'shame' n(jaki znowu 'shame' shame dlaczego?) and talk openly about their problems, feelings and emotions.

In this way, the Internet users are 'sparing' (cos nie tak z tym slowem) their priceless time and their opportunities to find something important to them AND are no longer as limited as they used to be before the invention of the Internet.

Despite of the fact how much the Internet is useful there's no option to not agree that it also has quite many disadvantages. First of all, more and more people is getting into the addiction to the Internet. Many infoholics stop to care about the family and their personal issues, and the Net becomes an alternative to a real life. They are wasting a time taking part in the useless chats and other forms of the Internet entertainment such as the games like Tibia. The next argument again the Internet is that it is still vulnerable to attacks from hackers and criminals. There is a risk of robbing the internet bank accounts or learning about people's personal details (for instance a habitual residence) by them. Another drawback is the presence of paedophiles. They can contact with the children oblivious of the danger.

Taking all this into consideration it's clearly visible that the Internet has as many disadvantages as positive aspects. But nothing is ideal and the Internet is undeniable the greatest masterpiece of modern culture, people should only know that it might create danger and should learn how to prevent it.

First of all, more and more people ARE getting into the addiction to the Internet.

They are wasting THEIR time taking part in the useless chats

They can contact with the children WHO ARE oblivious TO the danger.

But nothing is ideal and the Internet is undeniabLY the greatest masterpiece of
modern culture.
