That's ducky, just ducky, man. Know the meaning of all the words given. The exercise is about collocations. I am just getting to know with that, it's somewhat the news to me. It is early days...

gathered pace - a very common phrase, I thought it was ok
enable access - sounds bad, you're right
providing encouragement is wrong? My jaw drops then.
growing extent - I overheard this too, that's why used it.

We'II be drilling (mean myself) a lot more.

thank you very much, mg.

someone gathers pace
enable sounds much less probable than facilitate
How can a librarian encourage an Internet user? And why?
a range of resources
I will systematically be uploading new ones. Maybe, it's too early for me to do CPE exercises? :-)
Regular learning is the key to success. I must say, I'm already a 'winner', no matter how it may sound. I demand too much from myself. That's another side of the coin.

Ok. I need to pay more attention to some phrases I actually know, but don't associate them with the proper context. I hate multiple choice exercises! I feel like a narrow-minded person.

I prefer "applicable" in 8
