Prezentacja o wakacyjnych praktykach.

Temat przeniesiony do archwium.
Witam!

The subject of my presentation is well known and like all of you I’m going to talk about my holiday practice. According to polish law, every student of medicine has to hold nursing practice duty during his holidays after the summer session on first year of his studying.
I decided to perform my practice in small district hospital placed around my home instead of one of big clinical hospitals in the city where I am studying. I have chosen one of two internal wards, located on third floor. My ward contained eight rooms with one private bathroom in every of them and was prepared for treating around thirty-five patients at the same time. Fortunately rooms never were full so it was a little bit easier to work because there was only three nurses on a shift plus me. Generally fourteen nurses and six doctors were employed on my ward. It’s small hospital, everybody knows each other and the atmosphere between staff was very nice. Both nurses and doctors has their own room. Moreover there was treatment room where nurses were preparing drips and drugs and do a lot of their duties, next to the nurses recreation room. Like in every other internal wards as well in mine there were sluice room, dirty annex and storage room.
My typical day started at seven o’clock. It may seem so early but it’s time when the most things happens on a ward. My morning routine started with delivering drips, checking blood pressure and glucose level and taking blood samples with little help of one of nurses. For the first few days it was really hard for me because everything happened so fast to be ready before the morning round starts. After all medical activities it was time for breakfast which I helped to give out. Between breakfast and lunch I brought patients on tests and simple procedures. I saw an X-ray, a TK, a colonoscopy and a gastroscopy, catheterization and a few more. When I came back to the ward I brought investigation results to doctors. Right before lunch I had to check glucose level again and give injections such as insulin for diabetic patients. I was also given a Chance to see hospital laboratory where I had to take lots of samples.
The most memorable day was when one patient had a seizure and he needed the cardiac resuscitation. Everything ran so fast and there was no room for errors. All medical Staff were so professional and they are able to save the patient’s life. Unfortunately he died a few hours later and I end up putting his corpse into a black bag to carry it to the mortuary. It was so gloomy and grim, especially no one ever died on my holiday practice and that day was very dark and rainy.
To summarize it was four really exciting weeks of my life. I can even tell it was the most interesting part of first year of medicine studies. Anatomy nor histology cannot compare to practice when you have contact with alive people and you are not learning something only theoretically. Even though it was tiring and stressful I look forward to another practice next year.

The subject of my presentation is well known (ale dla kogo? dla nich? dla mnie? musisz napisac) and like all of you I’m going to talk about my holiday practice. According to Polish law, every student of medicine has to 'hold' (zle slowo, tutaj 'undergo') nursing practice duty during his holidays after the summer session 'on' (zle slowo- tutaj 'during') (brak przedimka) first year of his 'studying' (zla czesc mowy - tutaj 'studies').
I decided to perform my practice in (brak przedimka) small district hospital 'placed' (zle slowo, tutaj 'located') 'around' (dookola mojego domu? cos tu nie tak) my home instead of IN one of big clinical hospitals in the city where I am studying. I 'have chosen' (zly czas, tutaj 'chose') one of two internal wards, located on (przedimek) third floor. My ward contained eight rooms with one private bathroom in 'every of them' (cos tu brak, czy slowo 'one'?) and was prepared for treating around thirty-five patients at the same time. Fortunately rooms 'never were full' (zla kolejnosc slow...were...) so it was a little bit easier to work because there 'was' (ale przeciez masz 'nurses'-l. mnoga, to musi byc czasownik l. mn) only three nurses on a shift plus me.
It’s (przedimek) small hospital, everybody knows each other and the atmosphere between staff was very nice. Both nurses and doctors 'has' (ytutaj musisz dac l. mnoga, bo masz rzeczowniki l. mn) their own room. Moreover there was (przedimek) treatment room where nurses 'were preparing' (zly czas, tutaj 'prepared' - bylo, minelo- simple) drips and drugs and 'do' (zly czas - did) a lot of their duties( np. jakie? musisz cos wymienic), next to the nurses recreation room. Like in every other internal 'wards' (tutaj l. poj - every other ward) as well AS in mine there were (przedimek) sluice room, (przedimek) dirty annex and przedimek) storage room.
It may seem 'so' (niepotr) early but it’s time when 'the' (niepotr) most things 'happens' (zle slowo, tutaj 'happen - things happen) on a ward. My morning routine started with delivering drips, checking blood pressure and glucose level and taking blood samples with little help 'of' FROM one of (przedimek) nurses. For the first few days it was really hard for me(tutaj musisz napisac ...to be ready before the....) because everything happened so fast. 'to be ready before the morning round 'starts' (tutaj 'started')(to musisz miec w zdaniu). After all (przedimek) medical activities it was time for breakfast which I helped to give out. Between breakfast and lunch I brought patients 'on' (calkowicie zle slowo, prosze nie robic kalki z jez. polskiego na slowo 'na' , tutaj FOR) tests and simple procedures. I saw an X-ray, a 'TK,' (nie wiem co tyo jest - napisz w calosci) a colonoscopy and a gastroscopy, catheterization 'and a few more.' (np co? ja sie nie znam i nie moge zgadywac co to bylo). When I came back to the ward I brought (przedimek) investigation results to (przedimek) doctors. Right before lunch I had to check glucose 'level' (ja dalabym tutaj l. mnoga) again and give injections such as insulin for diabetic patients. I was also given a chance to see (przedimek) hospital laboratory where I had to take 'lots of ' (poszukaj inne okreslenie na to 'lots of') samples.
The most memorable day was when one patient had a seizure and he needed 'the' (niepotr) cardiac resuscitation.
All (przedimek) medical Staff were so professional and they 'are' (were - bo to sie dzialo w przeszlosci) able to save the patient’s life. Unfortunately he died a few hours later and I endED up putting his corpse into a black bag to carry it to the mortuary. It was so gloomy and grim, especially AS no one ever died on my holiday practice and that day was (tutaj mnie by wypadalo dac 'ALSO) very dark and rainy.
To summarize (przecinek) it was four really exciting weeks of my life. I can even 'tell' (zle slowo, tutaj SAY) THAT it was the most interesting part of (przedimek) first year of MY medicine studies. Anatomy nor histology cannot compare to practice when you have contact with 'alive' (nie, to jest zle slowo, tutaj LIVE) people and you are not ONLY learning something 'only' (w zlym miejscu) theoretically. Even though it was tiring and stressful I look forward to another practice next year.

Zrob cos z tymi przedimkami (a, an, the).
Pozdrawiam! :)
