Recognition of IB diploma for admission to universities and colleges
Poland
Entry to higher education in Poland is dependant on the successful performance in the matura examination, taken by students on completing secondary education. The IB Diploma has been recognised as equivalent to the matura examination.
In the Decree of the Minister of National Education of 15.10.1997 it is stated: "The IB Diploma, issued by the International Baccalaureate Organization in Geneva, is equivalent to the matura examination in public secondary schools".
Universities have considerable autonomy in determining their own entry requirements and procedures and entrance examinations are applied by some faculties whereas others apply direct entry on credentials. All students will have to prove their linguistic competence.
Enquiries should be addressed to individual universities.
