As far as I know it\'s rhythm not tempo. Tempo means speed and therefore it can be either fast or slow (or anything in between) but rhythm is the beat and it can be even or uneven.
What you are asking about is time signatures ( number that apears at the beginning of the song) and they can be in 4/4 = read four fourths, 3/4 = three fourths, 2/4 = two fourths, etc.
Yes, they can be in eights or in sixteenths (short notes).

Wydaje mi się, że jeśli jest to oznaczenie metrum to chodzi albo o 2/4 albo o 4/4 (w takcie mieszczą się odpowiednio dwie lub cztery ćwierćnuty), skłaniałabym się raczej ku temu drugiemu - jakoś bardziej mi to pasuje do \'double four\'. Tyle mojego gdybania. Ale szperałam trochę w internecie i znalałam stronkę, gdzie ten zwrot jest przetłumaczony, tyle że na... hiszpański. Wg autora strony \'Double-four time – O tempo da música. Quatro tempos em dobro\'. Cokolwiek to znaczy :)))) Nie znam tego języka, ale można by zaryzykować takie tłumaczenie: \'tempo w muzyce. Cztery ćwierćnuty w takcie\'. Czyli 4/4. Ale nie wiem, czy nie naginam tego do swojej hipotezy...

Nie mam zielonego o muzyce, ale wyglada mi na to, ze dft to dwa 4/4 zgrupowane razem. Zwrot \'double four time\' wystepuje w tekscie piosenki \'The Sultans Of Swing\'. Swing jest oparty na miarze 4/4, ale jest osmiobitowy (8 counts) czyli potrzebuje 2x 4/4. 4/4 nazywa sie \'quadruple time\' lub \'four-four time\' czyli w potocznym jezyku nazywaja go pewnie 4time. 2X 4/4 = double 4time.

As I mentioned before when you have a time signature in 2/4 you can read as either: \"in two fourths\" or \"TWO FOUR TIME\". That signature is never referred to as double four time.

OK. this is what I understand:
The question was about 2/4 signature. There is NO double four time thing in signatures.
Duple four time -yes, there is such a thing and I will try to explain it.
duple (not double) = in music means two beats to the bar ( or what\'s between the two sets of parallel bars).
If he wants to know what\'s 2/4 that\'s \"two in four time\" = it\'s two beats in each bar and a quarter note gets the beat.
IF you say duple four time it\'s 4/2 and that reads as four beats in each bar and half note gets one beat. HOWEVER, you do not read that as double four time. There is no such thing.
