Two years ago, I hated DP. I held it, to be one of the worst things in the world. But one night, when I was dancing at the disco I realised that There was being played “Sąsiadka” and I was schocked that I was fond of it despite of the fact that it’s DP. A few months later I heard next graet song; it’s called “Jak się masz”. After that I comprehended why I was getting used to this kind of music... so I became aware that it’s a kitsch.... but funny kitsch.
There are lots of people who have smth against DP.Some of them don’t know why they hate it. Personally speaking they are oportunists and they do the same and listen to the same music as their surrounding. Poor children... ;(((. But the rest of the opponents know what they hate it for. They claim that songs are simple and primitive, only about love, youth and freedom. But... so what??? As I see it, nowadays we have no time, everyone wants to become better and better on all counts, consequently we are stressed and suffer from burnout. So why don’t take a BREAK, turn off the brain, forget about our problems and just listen to these funny songs?

Sorry for mistakes, but I\'m not very good at English, I would kindly appreciate it if you corrected it and sent it to [email]
;)
There\'s nothing wrong with DP, if you\'re not forced to listen to it, whether you like it or not. Seeing that my father is a great fan of old polish songs and during any car journey he treats us with his favourite bits, urghh..., I have a right to hold myself to be quite a liberal person :).

Anyway, few years ago my friend asked me to go with him to his relative\'s wedding party. Why not, it could be fun. The whole thing took place in some little, beautiful mazurian village, the time was warm, the food ment to be delicious (everything home-made, just imagine), my partner was a good dancer, what more could I expect if not a nice evening ?
Ha ! I did expect something more ;), I was even ready to meet hosts of wild mosquitos, but what I got, was beyond my wildest dreams. 7 hours of DP music !

At first I was quite amused, \'local custom\' I thought. After half an hour I was still relaxed \'They (boys from the band) have to play some well known covers\' I thought. \'They have to rest (that is drink, of cource) from time to time\' I thought. But my composure was getting lower and lower with every song they had been playing. When I was leaving, as my partner got \'a little\' bottled (luckily for me :D), they were still playing !

Well, perhaps it can be funny (for the first five minutes), perhaps it can be even relaxing (if you know that this it the last song), but anything between these is boring, annoying and in the same rhythm ! And after all, it can give you trauma for the rest of your life. You can\'t just turn off your brain, but definitely you can end up without it.

Bottom line ? I knew very little of DP music. I know a little more about it now. DP is a different world I was not meant to be a part of. I hate DP !
I think that it is a matter of taste...Personally, i don\'t like DP. It\'s so naive...and these well-groomed singers....
I think I\'ve cought your drift. 7 hours with DP.... I agree that you can\'t turn off the brain for 7 hours. It must be horrble.
I\'d say it depends on people\'s relation to DP. If you consider DP to be proffesional and gorgeus music you can enjoy that 7h. But if you consider it to be only funny and laughable songs, 7h is too much.
If it\'s any consolation to you, imagine that you have to listen to hard rock, metal or classical music for seven hours. As I see it, it\'s much worse. ;)
Yeah, what almost killed my fragile, sofisticated music sensitivity, could be seven hours long marathon of absolutely classic melodies \'made in heaven\' ;) for someone else.

I suppose i should consider myself as a lucky beggar, not becoming the bitter individual that i could become by the end of that horrific night.

Anyway, i don\'t have a great choice, as my brother is a dj, and no chance you are going to hear anything even close to DP, classical, hard rock or metal. :)

So true devotion to only one kind of music is something i gave up a long time ago. That makes it quite easy to find amusement in almost everything. I am even able to listen to shazza. :D I mean from time to time ! :D
I don\'t like Shazza very much; but my favourite DP band is Boys. Their songs aren\'t very primitive. Nevertheless they are also funny and kitisch ;)
From my point of view melody is as important as text. It must be \"skoczna\" as my grandmother says. Due to that funny text and \"skoczna\" melody, DP songs are easy on the ear and the best at the disco or \"potańcówka\" in the village. ;)
Well, I\'m not an expert, but seeing that wearing a plastic corset, with only one hand fit (and it is not the one I regularly use to type), doesn\'t enable performing any dances or pirouettes, even with the lovely miss keyboard, the \'skoczna\' melody is not something I would like to hear, never mind the words. :)
But have fun everyone ! :D
Btw, you should try a real scottish hop. Indeed \'skoczna potańcówka\'. Your granny could love it ;)
please, no!!!!!!! I hate DP. J just can stand listening to it. unfortunately, it\'s popular. especially at parties. I can\'t understand why people can\'t dance to r\'n\'b instead of DP. just listen to DP lyrics:what an intelectual depth, don\'t you think? :/
I recommend you to read previous posts
so what that\'s an intelectual depth?

... and don\'t be so narrow-minded
Disco polo...I used to like it, when I was a child. My mother had been watching the programme \"Dico relax\" and so had I. Then I changed my mind and (as my friends;)) start listening some \"hard&heavy\" stuff. And then I again changed my likes and dislikes and realized that I can\'t listen only one kind of music and think that others are worse. And now I can listn almos everything...maybe except of polish hip-hop. Going back to DP I have to admit that I like it especially while weddings:) DP songs are great on parties. It\'s so...you know...funny and amusing, and these DP\'s bits are perfect to dance. Haha...I like it:) But while I\'m at home I like sth more...let\'s say... ambitious.
If you like DP, listen to Iwan Delfin - Jej czarne oczy. You\'ll like for sure:)
Sorry for my numerous errors, but 1.I\'m tired after the exam. 2. I\'m not good in writing this kind of stuff. You know what I mean? In school we are thaught how to do \"use of english, error corrections, and key word transformations\" and I don\'t usually have the chance to write sth like this. Unfortunately:(
I\'m not narro-minded. It\'s only my opinion, nothing more. You like DP. I hate it. That\'s all. the facy that we have two different wiewpoints doesn\'t mean that one of us must be narrow-minded...
Try to translate some r\'n\'b songs to Polish. They are no better than disco polo :)
SOME OF THEM. like in each kind of music. some of the lyrics are no better than DP, I agree. but I know some r\'n\'b songs that have good lyrics. and I didn\'t hear any DP song that has it. I just don\'t like them at all.
You wrote that you aren\'t narrow-minded, as I see it you aren\'t also open-minded since open-minded people wouldn\'t say \"please, no!!!!!!! I hate DP\"

and smth more; I don\'t pick holes in r\'n\'b
> They claim that songs are simple and primitive, only
>about love, youth and freedom.

Well, this is a perfect description. However, not only of DP, it\'s a perfect description of MOST songs.

>we are stressed and suffer from burnout. So why
>don\'t take a BREAK, turn off the brain, forget about our problems

Listening to disco polo certainly wouldn\'t be relaxing. When I am stressed even listening to pop music is painful. If I want to relax, I\'ve got to listen to some instrumental music (jazz is perfect), and if I am VERY stressed, only silence can help. Listening to simplistic, childlish lyrics of DP songs has the opposite effect.
why couldn\'t I say please, no!!!!!!!!I hate DP. That are my feelings. I didn\'t say that people who listen to it are worse than others.I just really don\'t like this kind of music. don\'t judge the book by it\'s cover, don\'t judge me by my opinions about music.
>Listening to disco polo certainly wouldn\'t be relaxing.

Have you heard \"majteczki w kropeczki\" or \"Lato w Kołobrzegu\"?
When I\'m listening to songs like them i forget about everything and on my face there is turning up rapturous expression.
Yeah... I heard them. They might be funny, but I could hardly call them relaxing.
You are so right about the lyrics. I remember interpreting some of the smashing hits\' lyrics into polish - usually it turned out to be such a crap, unbelievable. Indeed it was better not to know english and not to get message. Of course the great advantage was the music. Perhaps DP artists should spend more time working on melody, \'skoczna\' or not, it could be a little more diverse.

And Martine is right to some point, DP may be relaxing. I get the same feeling listening to the song like \'biedroneczki są w kropeczki\' and watching stupid commercials, an idiotic smile of astonishment drags on my face. Where am I ? There are so below your expectations that there is nothing more you can do, but laugh :D
but don\'t you think your first post is really haunting?
My God! Forgive me, pal, but I don\'t find anything relaxing in songs like \"Majteczki w kropeczki\" or \"Biala mewa\". They are not funny, either. These songs were written by \"the people\", rednecks, in other words. I perceive DP as some kind of Polish response to the country music.
Are you guys finished...so soon?
:)
First, I recon you\'re replying the wrong person.
Plus: there IS some difference between DP and the country music.
to sum up; \"one man\'s meat is another man\'s poison\"
;)
> There are so below your expectations that there
>is nothing more you can do, but laugh :D

Well, you can turn the radio off, or if it\'s a public place you can plug in you earphones and listen to your MP3 player - I go for the latter.
I said it to Martine, or what his name was, not to you- my mistake, sorry. I agree that there is some difference between DP and the country music- by saying the country music, I meant the most naive and foolish songs of this genre. There are (or rather were, alas!) truely great artists, such as Johnny Cash, for instance.
I\'d never liked country music until one day I watched the film \"Brother where art thou?\" and heard Alisson Krauss. It\'s not that now I love country, nah... but I love Alisson Krauss and bluegrass.

Maybe there\'s some DP song I will hear one day.... and who knows. Never say never.
:)
Got the drift...another no-brainer but fills up Luke\'s pages nicely and keeps people busy.
MY stand on it : (like Martin\'s and ATD\'s)...as someone said before...different strokes for different folks...no need to rub it in....don\'t like it, tough. If I am invited and don\'t like it, I will grin and bear it, keep busy talking to others, crack a few jokes and before you know it it\'s all over. After all these people want the very best for me and I am sure they want everyone to enjoy THEIR special day....It\'s not about me after all.

Tastes are so unique and individual and we can go on and on and on..and .....

so that\'s all I wanted to say....and that\'s it...that\'s that...end of story...astala vista...adios....

naughty sk8ter :)
God, SORRY...MARTINE\'S...me and my stupid mistakes!

:)
>I said it to Martine, or what his name was, not to you- my mistake,

sorry but i can\'t speak my mind since I\'m not into country music

and please don\'t write Martine(it\' female\'s name)
\"é\" is essential ;)
